Website Traffic | Paid Or Free?

So you have your website uploaded to the world wide web now what?
The answer to that question is : You need to get people there to see what you're offering otherwise your new website will be worthless. So you need to work out your marketing strategy of which there are many to choose from and some more successful than others. Some are costly and some are free and I would suggest if your new to Internet marketing your should start off with the free web traffic generating strategies.

Starting of with the free methods has one major benefit namely if it doesn't work out for you, you will have lost nothing except a little time. Your aim should be to build up a steady stream of targeted website traffic who are more likely to become subscribers to your site and hopefully purchase a product from you at some point in time. I've listed below some traffic generating strategies that I think you should stay well clear of if you're after targeted website traffic.

So Called Safe List's

This can either be buying leads in some form, such as email list's or physical addresses or paying other web masters for placing a link to your site on theirs.
The trouble with buying leads in this manner is, that with emails you are more than likely going to be accused of spamming if your emails get read at all, and if you're placing a link another website you will need to make sure the site compliments your offer. The traffic you get if any will be of poor quality resulting in you wasting your money and it's unlikely that the poor website traffic will subscribe or make a purchase from you

Traffic Exchanges.

Traffic exchange websites in my mind are a waste of your valuable time. I mean why would you want to be looking at other websites just for the sake of racking up points to gain reciprocal visits form people who are probably in the same business as you. You're not going to buy from them ad they've probably got no intention of buying from you, like said personally I think it's a huge waste of your time and the website traffic is of poor quality because the visitors are only doing the same as you, they're only visiting to rack up their own points.

Banner Ads.

I imagine you've come across banner adds, they're the flashing graphics you see on may websites. But I think there slowly becoming less popular. The reason for this is probably because the click-able banner ads were placed on un-relevant websites that were just covered in banner ads which ended up just confusing the visitors So Called "Safe List's" These are list's that people have signed up to and agreed to receive emails from other website owners. This was supposed to cut out spam unfortunately I don't think it worked. This is another costly service which doesn't give a good return on your investment so should be avoided.

Some people use Google Adwords and Google Adsense to promote the website but this can be very expensive especially if you don't know what your doing.
But as I mentioned above there are many free ways to generate targeted website traffic for your Internet business which have been tried and tested and are proven to work so I suggest you try one if no all of them to begin with. Good luck with your marketing.
